Ambury Regional Park (Te Ara i Tautahi)
A real working farm twenty minutes from town, with sheep, cows, chickens and peacocks wandering about.

Volcanic pasture running down to the Manukau, farmed properly rather than as a petting zoo, though the animals are thoroughly used to people. Lambs in season are the highlight, and the shorebirds on the coast are worth binoculars. Free to get in. Parking is the catch, so a weekend visit can mean a walk. The park was given the name Te Ara i Tautahi in 2026.
What to expect
Camping & hiking are popular at this farm park with wildlife, pastured animals & lava flows.
