Auckland Domain (Pukekawa)
The oldest park in the city, down in a crater, with the two free Wintergarden glasshouses below the museum.

The Wintergarden is what most people actually come for. Two glasshouses, wall to wall colour, free to walk into. Ducks nest by the pond and cross the road with their young, so the speed bumps are there for a reason and it's worth taking them seriously. The bush tracks out the back are lovely in daylight, though plenty of locals won't walk them after dark. Dogs run off leash only at Gum Tree Hill.
What to expect
Established city park containing museums, memorials & the entire blast crater of Pukekawa volcano.
