Cascade Kauri Park
Kauri forest, a wide picnic flat by the river, and a waterfall a short walk in.
A broad grass flat beside the Waitākere River where the road ends and the forest starts. The Auckland City Walk loops through mature kauri and is the easiest way to stand under big trees this close to the city. Track closures change with kauri dieback, so check before you drive out. Use the boot cleaning stations, every time.
