Every park is scored out of five on five shared factors (prams and access, scenery, toilets and water, parking, and safety) plus factors specific to what it is for. The overall number averages whichever factors apply, with playground, prams and access, food and coffee nearby, and picnic and BBQ counted at half weight.

Access varies by reserve, and at beaches it usually varies by season and time of day as well. The parks are all real places in Tāmaki Makaurau, and ratings, review counts and opening hours come from Google. Facilities on some parks have been checked against Auckland Council and park-operator sources and are dated and linked on the park page. The out-of-five scores are editorial throughout.
