Kopupaka Reserve
A stormwater pond turned into something worth visiting, with woven timber baskets holding the banks up.

The crib walls are the thing: great curved baskets of timber that hold the wetland edges and double as seating and boardwalk. It won a world architecture prize, which is not a sentence you write about a detention pond often. Wide flat paths right round, a playground, and pūkeko everywhere. Dogs run off leash in the reserve areas.
