Mission Bay Beach
The classic Auckland promenade: a crescent of sand, an art deco fountain and ice cream across the road.
The most sociable stretch of coast in the city, and busy for it. Rangitoto sits directly out front, the fountain lights up at night, and there's a strip of restaurants opposite. Flat and sealed end to end, so easy with a buggy. Dogs are banned from the reserve over summer, even on a lead, which catches people out.
