Mount Eden Domain (Maungawhau)
The highest cone on the isthmus, with a deep crater at the top and a big playground most visitors never find.
Everyone does the summit and stops there. That's a shame, because the playground and the fenced dog paddock are down on Normanby Road. Cars stopped going to the top in 2016, so the last stretch is walked. Photographers head up after dark for the city lights, though plenty of locals won't do that walk alone. Skip the public toilets if you can.

Site of Auckland's highest volcano, with spectacular city & harbour views & a large crater.
