Ōkahu Bay Reserve
The first beach on Tāmaki Drive: flat lawn, calm water and waka pulled up on the sand.

Wide grass behind a sheltered beach, yacht club at one end, waterfront path running both ways. It's calm enough for small swimmers and flat enough to carry everything you own down from the car. Easiest of the Tāmaki Drive beaches to reach on a bike. One regular gripe: the litter left after a busy weekend.
