Smiths Bush (Te Rangi Hiroa)
A remnant pūriri forest hidden between the motorway and the stadium, loud with birds.

One of the last patches of original coastal forest on the isthmus, with huge pūriri and taraire and a short flat loop under them. You lose the traffic almost immediately, which is the surprise of the place. The motorway is loud at the edges, so bring headphones if that bothers you. Ten minutes well spent if you're passing.
