Waiatarua Reserve
A restored wetland with a flat loop, and pūkeko that will walk right past you.
The biggest freshwater wetland restoration in Auckland, and a broad grass and gravel loop around raupō ponds. Pūkeko stalk the edges, herons work the shallows, and there's a steady stream of dogs on the track. Flat the whole way round. Runners have it to themselves early.
