Western Park
A steep Ponsonby gully full of old trees and sculpture, with the playground split by age at the bottom.

The top by Ponsonby Road is easy enough. Then it drops away hard, mostly boardwalk and stairs, and it gets slippery once it has rained. Paths criss cross each other, so the first visit is confusing. The playground is split, toddlers low down and a bigger zone for older kids. It's quieter than Myers Park. There are also more corners you can't see into.
What to expect
Park (also called Tuna Mau) with trails, sports fields, tennis courts, a playground & picnic areas.
