Whakanewha Regional Park
Waiheke's regional park, with a sheltered shell bay, bush tracks and the quietest camping near the city.

A protected bay on the south side of the island, with regenerating forest, a stream and a beach that stays calm when the north coast doesn't. Rare shorebirds nest along the shoreline, so keep to the marked areas. A good half day once you're off the ferry, and far less busy than the vineyards.
What to expect
Woodsy recreation area by a beach on Rocky Bay, with multi-use trails, campsites & picnic spots.
